INTRODUCTION
As part of a Publication Design module, our group of six selected birds as the central theme. Birds offered expressive movement, emotional depth, and strong visual storytelling potential. Each of us interpreted the theme through different publication formats, exploring how illustration, narrative, and design could bring these creatures to life.
CONCEPT
Migratory birds travel across continents with the changing seasons. Postcards also travel, carrying pieces of time from one place to another.
This project captures three migratory birds that visit India in different seasons and pairs each with a human character reflecting its personality. The series turns migration into a visual narrative of movement, emotion, and connection with nature.
APPROACH
We selected birds that arrive in India during winter, monsoon, and summer. After researching their behavior and seasonal characteristics, I translated each bird’s essence into an expressive character using posture, shape, and color. The final postcards balance illustration and storytelling, showing how both birds and postcards carry moments across distances.

CONCEPT
This coffee table book follows a young Sunbird on its first journey away from home. Along the way it meets different birds, each encounter revealing a new perspective on life, nature, and self-discovery.
APPROACH
The narrative was illustrated through a sequence of framed spreads combining character design, habitat scenes, and poetic pacing. Each bird encounter is represented visually and conceptually to reflect the Sunbird’s growth, using ambient colour, expressive composition, and minimal text to evoke atmosphere and emotion.
